Facebook Acquires Servicefriend. To Use Chatbot In Calibra Digital Wallet
As Facebook gets ready to launch its cryptocurrency in 2020, the group is putting the pieces together. As per the TechCrunch report, Facebook has acquired Servicefriend, a startup which builds chatbots to automate conversational interfaces over WhatsApp and Messenger.
According to the co-founder and a few other employees Linkedin profiles, the team will work with Facebook’s Calibra group. Calibra wallet is expected to be integrated with Facebook’s messaging apps – WhatsApp and Messenger. This allows Facebook to easily onboard its existing userbase to its new offering.
Purpose of chatbot in Calibra wallet
Users of Calibra digital wallet can conveniently pay for services like bills, and send money (Libra) to their contacts list. We are yet to see the adoption of Libra but for sure its success lies in providing great customer onboarding experience. A task impossible if you expect live agents to handle millions of users around the world.
This is where ServiceFriend artificial intelligence chatbots come. Using ServiceFriend chatbots, Calibra users can seamlessly connect and get their queries quickly answered.
Calibra is a digital wallet to store and transfer Facebook’s digital currency Libra. Recently the firm shared details that Libra’s reserve will comprise of 50% USD, 8% EUR, 14% Japanese yen, 11% British pound, and 7% Singapore dollar.
Since the project announcement in June 2019, it has faced heavy scrutiny from regulators and lawmakers. Governments around the world are concerned that it could threaten their monetary sovereignty. Recently, in the eurozone finance minister meeting, the members agree to pursue a tough regulation should Libra seek approval to operate in Europe. Therefore, expect Facebook’s digital currency Libra to operate in selective countries.
