Samsung is launching a blockchain friendly phone
Samsung is launching a blockchain-friendly phone, a variant of its flagship phone ‘Galaxy Note 10’ to increase adoption of blockchain-based applications.
The smartphone ‘KlaytnPhone’, named after the blockchain platform ‘Klaytn‘ will have Klaytn logo when switched on or off. The smartphone will be available for sale in South Korea only.
Expect pre-installed ‘Klaytn’ blockchain-based applications
Speaking to the WSJ, the sources said buyers of the Samsung phone will also get a certain amount of Klaytn blockchain native token called ‘Klay’ to be used as payment within their blockchain-powered services and applications.
Currently, Klaytn ecosystem has 50+ service partners and a good lineup of decentralized applications been built on it.
Some of these BApp (blockchain application) partners include:
- Klaytn Knights, an updated version of ‘EOS Knights in Klaytn.
- Princess Maker from MGAME, one of South Korea’s 1st generation game development companies. MGAME has a gaming user base of 21 million.
- Crypto Sword & Magic, developed by Nod Games. The game’s earlier version has once launched on Facebook and recorded a 700,000 MAU in 2013.
- Hon, another gaming application from MGAME.
- Crypto Fishing, a casual fishing game developed by MEMORY Inc.
- Marvel Clans, a parkour game whereby users can choose from four different tribes and engage in different modes of battle.
- Infinity Star, developed by Nodebrick, a blockchain-based collectible game.
- Axie Infinity, a digital pet collectible game whereby users can breed, train, upgrade, and trade their cute creatures.
Last month, Samsung added support for ‘Klay’ token in its cryptocurrency wallet ‘Keystore’ which users can use to store/transfer ‘Klay’.
