Samsung Raises the Bar. Adds Crypto Wallet

Samsung upcoming flagship smartphone Galaxy S10 will have an in-built cryptocurrency wallet. The user of Galaxy S10 can store BTC, ETH and send funds through Samsung wallet app ‘Blockchain Keystore’.

For easy use, the Blockchain Keystore app will store private keys in Samsung hard drive and can be later easily accessed for transaction processing through biometric authentication.

“Galaxy S10 is built with defense-grade Samsung Knox, as well as secure storage backed by hardware, which houses private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.”

– Samsung explained in a press release on 20th Feb.

Through the app, users can easily access their account information and view the transaction history of each cryptocurrency. Based on the leaked images, it appears that the app will support Bitcoin and ETH. It also provides an option to add other cryptocurrencies, ERC-20 tokens via the wallet.

To send the funds, users have to input public key using QR code scanner, input amount to be sent and press ‘send’ button. Once clicked, the wallet app will prompt the user to confirm the transaction by using fingerprint or PIN code.

The news of one of the big enterprise building crypto use case has made the community excited. In 2018 alone, the company shipped more than 250 million smartphone units around the globe. The broad reach and dominance of Samsung’s smartphone will make cryptocurrency visibly known and adopted by millions.
