Ethereum researcher Virgil Griffith has now been indicted for assisting North Korea
Ethereum researcher Virgil Griffith has now been formally accused of assisting and providing blockchain advice to North Korea. Inner City Press reported the news on Jan 8th.
Virgil Griffith was arrested on Thanksgiving on federal charges of illegally traveling to North Korea and provide cryptocurrency advice. He was first denied bail on Dec 26th but later on Dec 30th in a new appeal, the bail was granted on a condition that his family secure $1 million worth personal recognizance bond.
On Jan 2nd, US attorney’s press officed informed Inner City Press that Griffith has still not been released: “He has not satisfied his bail conditions yet. Still awaiting the approval of his co-signers and the posting of properties as collateral”.
Griffith has been suspended from the Ethereum Foundation, though the foundation has been supportive of Griffith.
