Libra update: Testnet processes 51,000 transactions with 7 nodes

Facebook Libra update

Nearly after a month since the remaining 21 Libra association members signed the charter, the Libra team released an update of its progress. The Libra association shared the update in a blog post that since Sept 17, Libra’s testnet network has logged over 51,000 transactions with 7 nodes supporting the infrastructure.

Since the launch of the testnet, the extended developer community has been actively working with the Libra team and has developed 34 projects, including 10 wallets, 11 blockchain explorers and 2 IDEs, a tool for creating, testing and deploying smart contracts on the blockchain.

Update on Libra association members joining as node operator:

The Libra association first published its development roadmap in early Oct with a goal to have all partners deploy nodes by mainnet launch. Among 21 association members, currently, 7 members are running the node, including Calibra and Anchorage and 6 more in-progress of deploying the node.

8 remaining association members are believed to lack technical expertise to implement a node on the network. Therefore, they are expected to deploy with support from Libra technical team members once Libra’s core features are completed in 2020.

Beyond Testnet:

For greater resiliency of the network, the Libra Association intends to deploy 100 nodes on the mainnet. These nodes can be run on-premises or by using cloud infrastructure.

Additionally, for the expansion of the contributing community, the Libra team will soon release technical blogs to teach developers of all backgrounds and skill levels how to work with the Libra network.
