Twitter Founder Endorse Bitcoin Tippin.Me

The new app Tippin, an extension on Google Chrome and Firefox browsers integrates Bitcoin tipping on Twitter. Once set-up, it adds a tip button in the shape of a lightning bolt on every single Tweet allowing users to send tips using Bitcoin.

Currently, Bitcoin’s on chain transactions are far too slow and expensive when the network experiences high volumes of transactional activities. However, these micro-payment transactions are processed instantly even of a few cents with almost zero transaction fees over the Lightning Network.

Tippin.me gained spotlight when the endorsement of Tippin came from none other than Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey himself. Immediately after the Tweet, Jack Dorsey was tipped 12,362 satoshis, approx. $0.49 worth of BTC.

Sergio Abril, the founder of the project, mentioned that he was overwhelmed when Jack signed up to the platform. The development is still in beta and in the future, the option will be supported on other social media platforms.
