dApps Of Tron Have Taken #1 Spot In All 3 Major Categories

dApps

2018 was the first momentum year for dApps usage. At the beginning of 2018, DEX was the key contributor in the dApp market by transaction volume. Cryptocurrency in high demand proved decentralized exchange as one successful use case for dApps.

However, in the latter part of 2018, Gambling apps dominated the market both in terms of the transaction volume as well as user count. Today of all transaction volumes in dApps, gambling leads the charts by a large portion (82%) followed by DEX with 13%.

Many of ETH based dApps have already moved or soon moving to platforms Tron and EOS.

Ethereum blockchain with early mover advantage leads the market in terms of the number of dApps but fails to compete with other blockchains (Tron, EOS) with regards to the number of active dApp users and dApp transaction volume.

Much of this is due to challenges with ETH transaction speed and gas fee which greatly affects the user experience.

Other reasons could be the accelerator program launched by the competing network and also additional roles are taken by master nodes of both EOS and Tron platforms to provide resources, advise, even investing in dApps to expand the respective ecosystem.

Current leaders board – Who leads the race:

While currently, EOS is leading in terms of overall transaction volume and user activity in any given platform, Tron-based dApp has secured the no. 1 spot in all 3 major categories – gambling, games, and exchange in terms of 24-hour user activity as well as transaction volume.

Epic Dragons‘, a game decentralized app is leading with 7.7K daily users, hosted in TRON network followed by other TRON based dApp ‘Play Goc‘ which has attracted 7.3k users.

In terms of transaction volume, ‘Tronbet‘, a gambling app leads with 5.3 Million $ in daily transaction volume. Additionally, this week Tron based DEX ‘Tron Trade‘ took the no. 1 spot in terms of transaction volume in the exchange category previously held by ETH dApp ‘IDEX’.

EOS continues to remain the largest blockchain with 89% of its transaction volume coming from gambling dApps.

As per the stats from dAppradar, ‘EOS Dice‘ and ‘Farm EOS‘, both gambling apps have the second-highest 24-hour transaction volume (3.0 Million$ each).

Still away from Mainstream Adoption:

Though the stats for dApps in Tron and EOS look great, we are still far away from mainstream adoption.
Today, of all the registered wallets or accounts, very few are actual dApp users. Additionally, the majority of dApps once built, fail to maintain users’ excitement.

Much of this will change with upcoming major developments which will bring the mainstream closer to the blockchain.

  • ‘Plague Hunters’ built by ‘Arcade Distillery’ to be launched in PlayStation by Q1 2019 will have a built-in P2P marketplace for exchanging in-game assets via token NFTs using ETH blockchain.
  • Kamagames, one of the largest mobile gambling apps with 100 Million users are building gambling dApp on ETH network.
  • BitTorrent, a file-sharing platform with a community of another 100 Million users will experience the Tron network.
  • Developments by LoomX. It’s ETH sidechain where instead of users, dApp dev will pay for transactions.
  • Chromapolis soon to launch new blockchain, with user experience as one of the key focal point in their platform.
